New Chord Progressions & Genres

We're expanding the Chord Progression library to include some of the most important progressions to learn across six genres.

Mode Awareness

Everything in StringTheoryPRO is mode aware - including our chord progressions. Some chord progressions transpose into other modes better than others - because of this, the selection of chord progressions can change depending on the mode you have currently selected.

There's nothing stopping you from trying a progression that is usually played in a Major Mode into a Minor Mode. An indicator icon in the user interface will let you know if you have transposed a progression into a mode that it isn't intended for.

Locrian Chord Progressions

The Locrian Mode - often described as Tense, Dark and Unsettling now has its own purpose built selection of chord progressions that are appropriate for its unique sounding chords.

The first chord in any Locrian key is always a diminished chord. This often makes chord progressions written for major or minor modes sound awkward.

On the flip side - chord progressions written for Locrian keys are beautiful in their own unique, haunting way. That's why we've decided to include a dedicated set of chord progressions written specifically for this unique mode.
